Challenge II Met: Europa on the White Bull
Here's my post for challenge II. I'm real happy with how this turned out. It's closer to my usual style than the Ibummy. I almost never draw non-anthropomorphic animals, so this was good practice.
Does anyone know if the movie The Last Unicorn came out of this myth or not? The whole bull driving beauty out of the land and into the sea thing is pretty strikingly similar.
Hey Pete, mind if I post a challenge next week. I'm thinking maybe a Russian or Japanese folktale.

awesome Sean! Feel free to post your challenge for this week. I don't have anything ready yet but I could come up with something if you want to save yours for next monday. I'm excited to see what you've got!
I'm late posting artwork myself, so I'll probably have some things up later tonight. Post your challenge if it's ready!
awesome dude! i almost did europa, it was going to be a four panel drawing of the bull jumping into the water with her on it's back and her reaching out toward the "camera" mouthing the phonemes for "f...U...C...K".
i'm a little curious about that last unicorn thing as well. it's definitely different, but the correlation between the bull and the sea is definitely intriuging! i bet it was inspiration of some manner...
it would be cool to see a showdown between Zeus and Ares as white and red bulls. And whoah, check this out from wikipedia:
"The single major role of Ares that was sited in mainland Greece itself was in the founding myth of Thebes: Ares was the progenitor of the water-dragon slain by Cadmus (Kádmos). From the dragon's teeth sown as if a crop arose a race of fighting men, the descendents of Ares. To propitiate Ares, Cadmus took as a bride Harmonía, daughter of Ares' union with Aphrodite, thus harmonizing all strife and founding the city of Thebes."
What if Zeus offered Ares's daughter Harmonia to appease Cadmus? And if Ares blamed Zeus for the loss of his daughter and dragon to Cadmus?
"sorry cadmus, your sister? she's not comin' back...but hey! here's this totally hot chick that wants to bang you for all eternity. love will come with time..."
i didn't read this one but that's pretty kick arse, sean!
